If You Are A Kinky Type 4 Like Me I’ve Got 2 Words For You: Wheat Germ Oil And Keracare Clear Protein Styling Gel

Now ladies you know that my hair has like NO shine on it’s own and this fact is greatly exaggerated when I do wash and go’s. Oil will give me shiny straight hair but I haven’t found a way to make oil work for me when doing wash and go’s… until yesterday! I discovered a product combo that works beautifully to give me hold, elongated curls (as elongated as they can be when your hair loves to shrink) and most importantly shine!

Basically what I did this time was to skip the leave in conditioner step. I know it sounds risky, but it made sense since I planned to slather my hair in oil anyway. I’ve tried sunflower and coconut in the past but there’s something about wheatgerm oil this time that just ‘took’. I also dumped the eco styler in favor of Keracare clear protein styling gel which is much thicker believe it or not. And you know that us kinky hair types need thickness to help with clumping.

Anyway these pictures are of completely dry hair after diffusing. I will probably do a video in a while to show you how I achieve the wng but all in all I’m pleased with the results.

Thanks for helping me with my hair woes on BHI a couple of months ago. I have embraced my ‘fro and is happier than ever! ๐Ÿ™‚

Yes I realized after reading your comments I really was fighting what nature gave me. Trying to make it look away that was against its will with the twist outs and such. Now I do 8 plaits at bedtime, comb out the ‘fro in the morning and I’m on my way. So many people stop to inquire about my hair, how do I care for it, how do I get it too look so moist and shiny, how long did it take to get so big, etc. etc. LOL. I can’t believe I waited so long to just let it show as is. And no problems at work, everyone seem to accept it, so no need for those expensive protective styles every 4 weeks. Now I can just do them when I want a change up. FINALLY, hair life is good! The 2 and 1/2 year transition was worth it. Best of all, no more breakage and shedding!

I’m so new to this and keep seeing references to hair types (4, 4B, 4C) and acronyms (like BSL). Is there a hair chart to explain these things and do you have a link that you can share for them/it?
