Ok, after wearing the kinky straight hair for 3 weeks, I am in a position to give a review on it. I have to say firstly, I expected more. When you spend over $100 for a pack of hair, you expect it to be the business. This hair was not, it was very average indeed.
The texture is spot on with my blow dried natural hair which is wonderful but after washing it a couple of times, I just couldn’t wear it in it’s kinky straight texture, the tangles were just too much. When the hair is straightened, it also matches beautifully with my straightened hair but there the similarities end. I am still usually able to run my fingers through my own hair even at the end of the day, with the kinky straight, you can’t do that! It certainly isn’t the worst tangling hair in the world, not as bad as the Goddess Remy by a long shot but it is definitely high maintenance hair. Word of warning, DO NOT try to wear this hair very curly. I made the mistake of trying a bantu knot out with the hair. While it looked pretty:
On a lighter note, I was finally able to take a look at my own hair in it’s natural state to see if the texture has loosened everywhere . . . errm nope! The front and back look lovely with looser curls but the majority of the hair elsewhere is still holding on strong to it’s curl. The feel of the hair has changed dramatically however and it is lusciously soft throughout. I’m still scared to death of wearing my hair in any sort of natural hair style until I have the texture thing under control, single strand knots are evil! Another positive is that it’s so easy to blow dry/straighten my hair. I am now able to do the tension blow dry method when previously, doing this would either leave my hair feeling rough and the ends would never get straight. Now the ends straighten beautifully and it only takes me about 1/2 hour to do my whole head which is like a miracle for me!
Another thing I’ve discovered is ceramides . . . . I wouldn’t use sunflower oil to cook but it is very high in ceramides and as I’ve discovered, it is the best thing that’s happened to my hair since I discovered protein conditioners! I will write an article about ceramides on the main site in a few . . .
So how am I wearing my hair now? Virgin wavy indian hair baby! My first reaction to this hair . . . OMG, gorgeous, soft, volumous and thats before I even installed it!
Now it’s in, full review in a few weeks. I will give you a sneak peek. Here I’ve done a bantu knot out:
